Announcements
- Our newest Upper Looper LD is starting next Monday!
- Please welcome Leif Hopkins to º£½ÇÊÓƵ as our new Biology/Chemistry/Environmental Science Specialist! Leif will be taking over Life Science and Earth Science Specialty labs.
- Welcome to the team Leif!
Here are a few words from Leif himself:
"I am passionate about science, teaching, and living a sustainable lifestyle.
I consider the science classroom and lab an ideal setting for curiosity, wonder, inquisitiveness, discovery, building confidence and self esteem.
I am energetic and thrive when I can play sports, coach, garden, explore nature with students and get to know my students beyond the classroom or multidimensionally.
As a teacher, who is also a learner, recently I have been studying Conservation and Development, Global Environmental Policies, and other topics, in pursuit of a second master degree in Sustainability from Harvard University.
The experience of being a student myself, inspired by new ideas, collaboration with colleagues, new information and knowledge continues to inform and enhance my own teaching practice."
Q2 º£½ÇÊÓƵ 360 Report | Friday 31 Jan
We are excited to announce that the º£½ÇÊÓƵ 360 Report for Quarter 2 will be emailed to families on Friday, 31 January. These 360s are an excellent opportunity to connect, reflect, and set meaningful goals as we prepare for Quarter 3. They provide valuable insights into each learner’s journey, highlighting their achievements and areas for growth.
We would also like to share that we are reviewing our current º£½ÇÊÓƵ 360 Reports which will be conducted in a few different phases.
Phase 1: Learning Designer feedback
Phase 2: º£½ÇÊÓƵnians prototype and test
Phase 3: Open to all parents interested
Phase 4: Synthesizing feedback and deciding on possible enhancements and changes
As part of Phase 1 in gaining insights from our Learning Designers, we asked for their perspectives on what we need to add, delete, emphasize, or reduce in a child’s º£½ÇÊÓƵ 360 from an educator’s viewpoint.
Key areas discussed included:
- Learning Objectives
- Narrative Observations/Evaluations
- Personal & Social Development
- Parent/Guardian Collaboration
- Participation in Class Learning
- Skills of Strength
- Next Steps for Learning
- Evidence of Learning
- Growth Over Time
Finding the right balance in emphasizing these aspects is a complex challenge. This is why we need to open this process to parents, as the ultimate users, to learn from your insights. Our goal is to evolve the º£½ÇÊÓƵ 360s to maximize the time and effort invested in crafting them while ensuring they provide key information that is useful and impactful for families.
To keep things focused, we have decided on the following prompts and will test these out with the º£½ÇÊÓƵnians first. Each parent will receive their child's º£½ÇÊÓƵ 360 and the Curriculum Quarterly (CQ) that accompanies it to illustrate connection between these two vital documents. These are the questions we are interested in learning more about from you:
Possible Prompts to get the thinking started:
- To what extent is there a strong connection between CQs and º£½ÇÊÓƵ 360s?
- What do you want/need to know from your child's º£½ÇÊÓƵ 360?
- What would you like to see more of in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ 360?
- What would you like to see less of in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ 360?
To enhance this process, we will be hosting a session to gather feedback from parents. This session will focus on ways we can refine and improve our º£½ÇÊÓƵ 360s to ensure they are more informative and accessible. Our goal is to make the 360s more effective in demonstrating measurable progress and providing a clear understanding of where your child is in their learning.
We look forward to your participation and insights as we work together to strengthen our communication and support every learner’s success. More information to follow on the process and timeframe soon.

Learning Labs for Q2
Project Updates
-
- Learners visited Assumption Cathedral and heard from one of the priests about the Catholic perspectives on life after death and destiny.
- The group visited Dev Mandir Temple to learn about Hindu beliefs and the deities. Learners got to interview the President and committee members of the Dev Mandir Temple to uncover the unique beliefs of Hinduism.
- As the end of the learning lab approaches, the learners participated in a visual communication workshop led by K. Ribbin, gaining practical insights into curating, page layout, and crafting compelling captions and artist statements.
- Join us in celebrating the culmination of the learners' project at Realities of Religions, a photography exhibition running from February 12-17 at Vanich Gallery in partnership with BlueDot. Save the date for the Opening Program on February 15 at 3PM —we look forward to seeing you there

Project Updates
- Learners have gathered their footage and wrapped up their experiment by drawing conclusions.
- The video they created brings together their psychology experiment, maps and routes designed with QGIS, and their own explanations of the process. They worked hard to put together a thoughtful and engaging documentary that highlights their focus in psychology and helps them prepare for the upcoming trip to Chiang Mai.
- We encourage you to take some time to watch the video with them—it’s both entertaining and educational!
- As the trip approaches, we’re also reminding learners to keep up with physical preparation. We helped them to practice squats, lunges, and other lower-body exercises to build strength for the more challenging hike ahead.

Power Hour with Coaches Joe and Ji Yoon
-
Power Hour learners are continuing their fitness journey in the weight room, striving to maintain their scheduled routine and develop healthy habits both in and outside the classroom.
-
Consistency is key in building strength and overall well-being, and we encourage them to stay committed to their progress.
-
To support their efforts, please encourage them at home to prioritize their physical well-being by incorporating regular stretching in the morning and afternoon. This will help with flexibility, recovery, and overall fitness.
Thank you for your support in reinforcing these healthy habits!
U-Well with Greg
- U-Well is off this week so I thought this might be a good time to share with you our updates in regards to university guidance.
- Last week I had one to one meetings with our seniors to get any updates and prepare for the mid-year report/transcript sending.
- Many universities in the world are wrapping up their application reading and will require applicants to submit a semester one transcript to see how well the grade 12 students are doing in their senior year.
- We take the grades from our 360 report and create a transcript for the universities that require it.
- For our applicants applying to Thai universities, the next round of TCAS (Thai common application) is mostly in early March. Those first semester grades will be a part of the application as well as any testing like SAT or past AP tests for those seeking admission in the next round.
- The submission of mid year grades is a good motivator for seniors to keep up their academic standards going into their final year.
Art Labs with Gideon and Ji Yoon

- Learners have entered the review and evolution phase of the design process, where they analyze recurring themes and styles in their past work and plan their future explorations.
- They started bigger works, helping them to prioritize composition, color and value in their drawing and paintings.
AD 3D Art
